The business analyst consultant is an individual who is able to collect business requirements from multiple sources, and then critically evaluate information gathered, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying business needs. This individual interprets business needs and translates them into operational requirements; collaborates with subject matter experts to establish the vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
Collection, documentation and analysis of the current state and the future state of business or technical processes by means of documenting business process flows and models in collaboration with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
Analysis of process gaps, information flow obstacles and identification of opportunities for increased efficiency.
Ability to document requirements and create process models using UML modeling techniques
Proven expertise in gathering and documenting requirements to support development of data warehousing and business intelligence solutions
Strong leadership and ability to facilitate focus groups to determine requirements and priorities
Experience in assigning project activities to meet the timelines, budget and stakeholder requirements set out in work breakdown structures, project schedules and other related plans (e.g. test, quality, training)
Experience in assessing project status and reporting activity to project team and management
Skills and Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a business related field
Five or more years of business analysis experience ideally within one or more of the following industries: Municipal or Federal Government, Health Care, Utilities, Insurance, Retail
CBAP or CCBA Certification considered and asset
PROSCI Certification considered and asset
PMP Certification considered an asset
The ability to engage effectively across teams and with various levels of management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Prefer consultants that are willing and able to travel
